ACCESS STATEMENT

INTRODUCTION

  • Little Grey Cottage is set in a rural position 2.5 miles outside St Austell.
  • We offer three main guest bedrooms
  • We believe the cottage was built about 1850 but has been renovated to modern standards yet retains its lovely cottage charater
  • All of our guest Bedrooms are on the first floor and are only accessible by stairs.
  • This may make access difficult for people with limited mobility
  • The house is built on flat ground with easy assess, with assistance, up one small step into the cottage from the parking area
  • The ground floor guest lounge and breakfast room is probably restrictive to wheelchair users as there is a large step between the guest lounge and the breakfast room
  • We advise all guest's after reading this access statement to contact us if they have any mobility concerns before booking.

PRE-ARRIVAL

  • We are located in a rural position not ideally suited to those travellers without transport, as we are situated just outside the village of Trethurgy
  • The nearest shops are approx 2 miles away
  • The nearest bus stop can be found by the village hall. Buses run at 1 hour intervals to Eden and to St Austell
  • The nearest railway station s are Par and St Austell both approx 2.5 miles away.
  • Taxis are always available at these, but we can book one for you in advance if required
  • There are several local taxi services
  • We can make bookings in advance for you
  • We are unable to accommodate dogs or any sort of animal pet
  • Brochures and all information are in standard sized print, we have no facilities to prepare document in Braille

  • Arrival and car parking

  • We can only provide assistance if you have minor mobility problems (To be assessed before booking)
  • To ensure your room is ready we ask gussets not to arrive before 3.30 p.m. however, earlier arrival may be possible by arrangement
  • Our main parking area is on level gravelled ground to the front door
  • To keep a clear entrance. We ask guests to park to the side of the building under a lamplight area and not in front of the cottage.

  • Entrance Hall

  • Hallway with doorways to owner's private rooms, kitchen and guest lounge
  • Front door width 80 cm, door width to guest lounge 78cm with 12.5mm threshold in doorway on floor
  • Main hallway and stairs fully fitted carpeted with large rug in main entrance
  • Front hallway there is a flight of stairs to the first floor landing and bedrooms
  • From the hallway the flight of stairs are six number steps with a hand rail to half stage landing, Landing fully fitted carpet to floor, doorways to guest bedrooms, guest private bathroom and owners private rooms.
  • Guests Lounge and Breakfast room

  • Guests are welcome to use the Lounge at any time. The guest Lounge has two sofa's one chair and a foot stool. A centre coffee table and one side table, for guest comfort there is a 36inch colour T.V. Lots of local information, maps magazines and other reading materials
  • The Lounge floor is wood laminate with a large central rug over
  • Large step from lounge approx 15cm high 46cm deep 15 cm down into guest breakfast room.

  • Fully tiled floor with large carpet area covered
  • 3 tables with chairs with a service station
  • French doors one step down 15cm to paved guests patio area and gardens.

  • All bedrooms contain tea, coffee making facilities, colour TV radio clock alarm
  • Bedrooms 1 & 3 78cm doorway with 12.5mm threshold on floor, wood laminate flooring with bedside slip mats, quality pine wardrobe, dressing table, chair and bedside lockers
  • Doorway to en suite, folding door 60cm wide with 12.5 mm threshold to floor, en suite fully tiled with wc. Hand basin and shower cubical, bathroom cushion flooring with bathroom set rugs
  • Bedroom 2 twin beds, 78cm wide doorway with 12,5 threshold to floor, wood laminate flooring with long bedside rug between 90cm twin beds
  • Quality bedside locker, wardrobe and chest of draws.
  • Private bathroom room 2 only

  • 78cm wide doorway with12, 5mm threshold on floor, fully tiled bathroom, wc, Hand basin and shower cubical. Bathroom cushioned flooring with bathroom set rugs.
  • Garden

  • Guests are permitted to use the front gardens at any time
  • Garden accessible from gravel drive and parking area, Two slab steps to paved area, 18cm high 46cm deep, Large lawned area border planting leading to large pond
  • Large koi pond with decking, patio area with seating.(guests may use this area but do so at their own risk by pond and on wood decking)
  • Garden steps 18cm high to raised patio seating area. 18cm slab steps to garden pathways leading to back lawn's 18cm granite steps down to paved gussets patio area by guest's breakfast room
  • Patio table and chairs for guests comfort.
